Murray plans to take USA by storm

Manchester hot shot John Murray takes on WBA Lightweight champ Brandon Rios this Saturday at New York’s Madison Square Garden and the 26 you is looking to emulate fellow Mancunian Ricky Hatton and win big in the states.

“This is by far the biggest bout of my career to date,” said Murray. “To be fighting in the ‘Mecca’ of boxing, Madison Square Garden, for the world title is the whole reason I got into this sport in the first place,”

“If you don’t want to have nights like this then there is no point being in this game. I’ve fought over in America in the past and have won each time, so I aim to continue that run on December 3rd against Rios.”

“Hatton had many great nights in America and I hope that I’m the next Manchester fighter who can win there.”

Murray’s last outing against Eastender Kevin Mitchell ended in defeat but Murray says defeat has made him stronger and he’s now looking to bring a world title back to Manchester.

Murray also has the backing of stablemate and former British and Commonwealth Featherweight champ Stephen Smith who says Muaary took Mitchell too lightly but has trained hard and is ready to claim Rios’ crown on Saturday.

The fight is being televised LIVE in the UK on BoxNation Sky ch456.

Daily Sport says – Wishes Murray every success in the US but see this being an up hill struggle.
