Phil a Power play at 5/4

Phil “The Power” Taylor is a standout 5/4 for the 2012 Ladbrokes PDC World Championship with the sponsors after the first-round draw was made today, and at those odds looks a cracking bet.

The tournament begins on December 15 and the 15-time champion takes on the winner of Haruki Muramatsu and Dennis Nilsson in the first round.

Most layers go odds-on (as short as 5/6) about Taylor, who showed he is in good form by winning the Grand Slam of Darts recently.

But full credit to Ladbrokes for pricing him up at odds-against and giving punters an early Christmas present.

Every other layer goes no bigger than Evens on him making it 16 world titles, so we’ll get stuck into the 5/4 laid by the Magic Sign.

This year has been about one thing for Taylor – winning back the titles he lost 12 months previously.

No loss hurt more than this title, and the man from Stoke is sure to be fired-up to the hilt to get it back in his clutches.

He is in the same section of the draw as Raymond van Barneveld and Paul Nicholson but the former is simply not the player he was and the latter can talk the talk but usually fails to walk the walk when it comes to the crunch.

Put quite simply, Taylor should be odds-on across the baord to win this, and the 5/4 with Laddies looks an absolute gift.

Snap it up while it lasts.
