Hole In One the one to be on
Lucinda Russell has her team in great form and Hole In One looks the best bet on the card at 4/1 to give her another winner in the 1.15 at Musselburgh today.
The five-year-old mare always shaped as if she needed a trip over hurdles last season when officially rated 95, and that again looked the case on her chasing debit on her seasonal reappearance when fifth to Panthers Run at Hexham recently.
Held up at the rear she made a bad blunder at the first before regaining her confidence and making headway three from home.
However she was then unable to find any extra when the pace quickened and was eventually allowed to come home in her own time to be beaten just over 13 lengths.
But she did show enough to suggest that she could be potentially well treated off a chase mark of 87, and connections have wasted no time in stepping her up to a more suitable trip this afternoon.
That looks the key to her breaking her duck, and with the highly talented Campbell Gillies in the saddle she must take all the beating off her featherweight in what looks a fairly weak race.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Hole In One (4/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
13/2 Sherriff fancied for repeat victory
Sherriff Hall bids to land back-to-back victories in the 2.55 Musselburgh and makes plenty of appeal at 13/2.
George Charlton’s gelding won this last year off a 6lb lower mark and although he has been a bit hit and miss since is sure to have been prepared with a repeat victory in mind.
The six-year-old looked badly in need of the outing on his seasonal reappearance at Hexham three weeks ago, but didn’t shape as badly as his final finishing position of 6th of 11 to Sydney Cove suggest.
Although eventually beaten over 39 lengths he raced with plenty of zest at the head of affairs before weakening two from home and the outing is sure to have blown away the cobwebs and put him spot on for this.
The booking of the in-form Jason Maguire also catches the eye, and everything looks in place for a huge run.
At the 13/2 on offer I rate him an each-way steal.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Sherriff Hall (13/2 Betfred, Boylesports, Victor Chandler – BOG)
