16/1 Arabian looks a Star in Silver Cambridgeshire
Andrew Balding has his string in good fettle and Arabian Star makes plenty of each-way appeal at 16/1 in the Silver Cambridgeshire at Newmarket (4.45).
The three-year-old is a consistent sort, and having shown a decent level of form as a juvenile got back on the winning trail three starts ago when beating Above all by 1/2 a length at Yarmouth over today’s trip off a mark of 78.
The son of Green desert has since ran two solid races to finish third to leading Cambridgeshire fancy Cry Fury at Goodwood over 1m 2f and occupy the same spot behind Sure Route in a mile contest at Sandown.
Both those runs came off a mark of 80, and the handicapper has left his mark unchanged for this afternoon’s contest.
The return to 1m 1f will be right up his street, and for a horse that likes to be up with the pace he has a potentially good draw bang next to the far rail in 1 to exploit.
It’s impossible to know which side will hold advantage, but with many of the leading fancies drawn low the far side could be the place to be.
bet365 are offering enhanced place terms of 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4,5, and at 16/1 with them Arabian Star has to be the each-way puntinplay in a wide open contest.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Arabian Star (16/1 bet365 – 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4,5)
5/1 Electra ready to prove she’s a Star
Electra Star is rapidly improving filly and looks value at 5/1 to take the step up into listed class in her stride in the 1.50 at Newmarket.
William Haggis’ daughter of Sharmadal has won three of her five starts this season, and showed a blistering turn of foot to overcome all sorts of trouble in running to score on her latest start at Ascot.
Held up at the rear of the field, she showed a great attitude to weave her way through rivals and win going away by a cosy 1 3/4 lengths from Valencha.
That run came off a mark of 86, and she is now rated 93.
That still gives her plenty to find on the book with the four of her rivals who are all rated 100 or higher, but she is improving at a rate of knots and it’s not hard to think that she has plenty more improvement in the locker.
To me this doesn’t look the strongest of listed contests, and I am very keen to be against the favourite Seta who has failed to deliver more than she has promised on more than one occasion.
With many firms paying 1/4 odds 1,2,3, I rate Electra Star an each-way steal.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Electra Star (5/1 bet365, Ladbrokes – BOG, Blue Square, Coral – all paying 1/4 odds 1,2,3)
