The Nifty Fox has becaome dangerously well-treated and looks siding with at 7/1 to take advanatge in the 4.30 at Musselburgh today.
Tim Easterby’s charge is a three time course and distance winner, with the last of those successes coming off a mark of 73 last June were stayed on strongly to beat Jedward by a head.
The 10-year-old went on to finish a fair fourth of 78, again over CD, and also ran well to finish third to Algar Lad at Ayr off 76.
His form then tailed off and he has failed to trouble the judge in seven starts this season.
However, his mark has fallen dramatically as a result and he now gets into this off a career-low of just 53.
That is a massive 17lb lower than when last successful, and gives him a huge chnace at the weights on the pick of his form.
The Nifty Fox also comes into the contest on the back of a decent effort at Ayr when fifth of 12 to Lord Buffhead on soft ground, where he stayed on from well off the pace having been dropped out in the early stages to try and get a position.
To me that run suggseted that all was not lost, and the return to this venue and quicker ground may well enable him to score an overdue success in a weak looking class 6 contest.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win The Nifty Fox (7/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
