O’Maison retains British Challenge strap at packed Bramall Lane

Saturday night saw Ryan Rhodes promote his first pro boxing show in conjuction with Dennis Hobson at a packed Platinum Suite at Bramall Lane the show feature 4 bouts all with local Sheffield lads on the bill including 2 pro debuts plus inter-round eye candyfrom the world famous #TeamDailySport ringgirls.

Topping the bill saw Sam O’Maison defend his welterweight British Challenge title against London veteran Mark McKray and after a good 1st round with O’Maison well on top he unleashed a vicious attack on McKray leaving ref Howard Foster with no option but to call a halt to the action at 0.49 of the 2nd round. After the bout McKray announced his retirement.

Cheif support saw Chris Dutton make his pro debut against Mitch Mitchell at light-heavy. Dutton looked sharp and took is 4 rounder on points 39-37.

Also making his debut was Joel Palmer who was in a 4 rounder with Andy Naylon after a good start Palmer got cut in 3rd round and dropped breifly in the 4th and when the refs card was tallied up Naylon took the bout 40-36.

Popular local lad Loua Nassa took on Luke Fash in a 4 rounder at featherweight with Nassa looking good and beating an oppo in Fash who’d come to fight 40-36 on the score card.

All in all a great nights boxing and the first of many shows from Rhodes.
