Paladin worth a punt at 12/1

Red Paladin caught the eye on seasonal reappearance and looks cracking each-way value at 12/1 on the 1.20 at Doncaster today.

Kristin Stubbs’ charge is two from four over course and distance, and overcame all sorts of trouble in running in the last of those to beat Sakhalin Star by 1/2 a length off a mark of 65 in a class 5, 14-runner contest.

The five-year-old went on to finish a fine second in a class 4 affair at Leicester off 71, and also ran well in a similar grade contest at the same venue when chasing home Al Khan off 72.

Red Paladin is now able to race in this class 5 contest off 70, and that makes himlook fairly treated on the pick of his form.

The gelding also shaped nicley last time out at Redcar on his first start for 165 days when looking ring rusty and missing the break before keeping on under tender handling to finish a 3 3/4 length sixth of 19 to Skinny Love, and that should have put him spot on for this.

In a market which has a lobsided look due to Birdman being odds-on and ludicrously short in a 14-runner handicap, Red Paladin looks overpriced and well worth an each-way wager at a track he clearly runs well.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Red Paladin (12/1 Stan James – BOG)
