Perfect Poison has been given a chance by the handicapper and makes plenty of appeal at 6/1 in the 2.50 at Uttoxeter today.

Donald McCain’s gelding shaped with pnety of promise in three runs in maiden/novice hurdles last season, finishing third on the first two occasions before rounding off the campaign with a 11 1/4 lenhth fourth of 7 to the now 136-rated Cloonacool at Stratford.

He was allotted an opening handicap mark of 101 on the back of those efforts, and ran well of it on seasonal reapperance when a 7 3/4 length fourth to Template at Market Rasen.

Perfect Poison was also far from disgraced last time out off 100 when fifth of 12 to Wymesworld at Doncaster, and has since been dropped another 1lb to 99.

That makes him look well-treated on the pick of his for, especially on his run behind Cloonacool, and the stable are now in much better form.

With those two runs under his belt Perfect Poison should now be spot on to do himself justice, and he also has the services of Ronan Short in the saddle who partnered him on his penultimnate outing and takes off a handy 10lb with his claim.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Perfect Poison (6/1 Stan James – BOG)
