Sakhee’s Return ran a blinder last time out and looks worth siding with at 9/2 in the 8.50 at Haydock this evening now eased in grade.

Tim Easterby’s gelding caem good at the second time of asking as a juvenile when readily landing a 6f maiden at Carlisle by 2 1/2 lengths, and although beaten in four subsequent starts last season always looked to me the type who would have more to offer as a three-year-old.

That view has been confirmed in two runs this season, with Sakhee’s Return shaping very well on reappearance to finish a close up third to Intiwin in a class 3 contest at Ripon before posting a career-bes effort last time out when third of 17 to Udontdodontu in a competitive class 3 contest at York.

Sakhee’s Return had the worst of the draw that day and had to use up lots of energy from stall to 17 to grab a good early pitch.

However, he  did do and after being ridden to lead approaching the final furlong only weakened late on after edging left to be beaten 3 lengths.

In the cirumstances it was a fine effort, and the form of the race is strong and reads well in the context of this lower grade class 4 contest.

Sakhee’s Return has also been raised just 1lb for that run to 75, and I will be surprised if he is not capable of winning races off it.

He should alos now be spot on to do himself justice, and to my eyes looks overpriced at the odds on offer.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Sakhee’s Return (9/2 bet365, Betfred – BOG)
