Sakhee’s a real Pearl at 15/2
Sakhee’s Pearl can usually be relied upon to run a solid race at Kempton, and having slipped back below her last winning mark makes plenty of appeal at 15/2 in the 2.45pm today.
The mare won over course and distance last September off 75 when trained by Gay Kelleway and is now down to a mark of 74.
Now in the care of Jo Crowley she showed that she was ready to take advantage of the handicappers leniency when an eye-catching fast finishing fourth to Hurricane Spirit over course and distance last month.
Held up as usual that day she made stealthy late headway up the inside to be beaten just over a length, and only narrowly failed to snatch third.
That was a really solid effort, and there is little doubt that she is weighted to win this if turning up in the same form.
Her draw in 12 is not the best on paper, but her hold up style means it is not as important and Ian Mongan – who knows her well – should hopefully be able to tuck her in behind the leaders and deliver her late.
Granted luck in running she must go close, and at 15/2 she looks rock solid each-way punting material.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Sakhee’s Pearl (15/2 Victor Chandler – BOG, Coral)
7/2 Stars set to shine
Above The Stars drops into selling company for the first time in the 4.15 at Kempton and is of serious interest at 7/2.
Richard Fahey’s filly has not scored since making a winning debut as a juvenile but having started life in handicaps off a mark of 84 is now down to just 69 as a result.
That give’s her a terrific chance of notching and overdue success now that she is dropped down to the bargain basement.
The daughter of Piccolo has caught my eye on a number of occasions this season, particularly three starts ago when putting in good late work in a 5f contest at Nottingham where she was beaten just 1 3/4 lengths into fifth behind Style And Panache.
The first four home were all drawn low that day, and from stall 14 she did well to finish so close after dwelling at the start.
Today’s contest is far easier, and a reproduction of that effort will make her extremely hard to beat.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Above The Stars (7/2 – use BOG firms)
