10/1 Commander can take control
Kayf Commander gets the tongue tie refitted in the 3.00 at Sedgefield and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 10/1 from the foot of the weights.
Mel Brittain’s gelding has been in good fork this season and should his liking for the track when beating Lucky Lukey by eight lengths three starts ago.
The runner-up has given the form a solid look by going on to land his next two starts, and although the selection is now 7lb higher in the weights he looks well-in in this contest with John Kington taking 3lb off his back.
Since that win Kayf Commander has run two decent races at Ludlow and Wetherby without troubling the judge, but the tongue tie that he wore when winning was absent on those occasions and is now back on.
That is a major plus as far as I am concerned, and off bottom weight with conditions in his favour a good run looks assured.
I had him priced up at around the 7/1 mark for this, so at the 10/1 on offer he looks a great each-way play.

Get Carter at 14/1
Carters Rest is potentially well treated in the finale at Sedgefield (4.00) and looks worth chancing at 14/1.
The gelding looked sure to win races when landing a bumper at Ayr in good style back in April 2009, and although he has subsequently failed to get his head in front he has run a number of solid races which would give him a big shout in this.
He started life off in handicaps on a very high mark of 110 but is now down to a more realistic rating of 93 and shaped well two starts ago when fourth to Endeavour at Kelso.
After being held up well off the pace he made good late headway and stayed on well to be beaten just 2 3/4 lengths, and if he had been given a more positive ride then he would probably have gone close to scoring.
To me that run suggested that his handler would be able to find him an opening to take advantage of his current mark, and he looks to have done that today.
It’s also interesting that connections are fitting him with cheekpieces for the first time, and if they manage to eek out a bit more improvement then he is certainly capable of running a big race in this line-up.
At 16/1 he looks too big a price on his best form, and although clearly not the easiest horse to win with he has to be worth an each-way interest at those odds in a race which won’t take much winning.
