Shadowtime is on a winning mark and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 11/1 in the 6.30 at Pontefract.
Tracey Waggott’s gelding has shaped far better than his finishing position suggests in two runs this season, and with his stable beginning to find it’s stride should now be spot on to do himself justice.
The seven-year-old caught the eye on his reappearance when finishing 7th of 14 to Al Muheer at Beverley at the beginning of last month, where he travelled powerfully into contention two from home and held every chance at the furlong pole before weakening inside the last on ground which was too soft for him.
He then ran a similar race at York last weekend, travelling well and leading at the three pole before being headed two out and weakening to finish 17th of 20 to Alfred Hutchinson.
This is a weaker affair than that contest, and he is on the same mark (72) as when registering his last success at Beverley last July and given that his two previous wins came off 71 and 77 is certainly handicapped to go in again.
The only slight concern is that all of the gelding’s 5 career wins have come at Beverley, but he has run well at other tracks and performed with credit on previous visits here.
I had him priced up at no bigger than 8s for this, so at 11/1 he looks overpriced and a great each-way play in a race where he looks to have plenty in his favour.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Shadowtime (11/1 Betfred – BOG)
