Shanroe Santos has become dangerously well-treated looks worth siding with at 5/1 in the 1.45 at Huntingdom today now eased in grade and fitted with the cheekepieces for the first time.

Lucy Wadham’s gelding showed usefol form in the early part of 2015 when landing decent back-to-back hurdle contests at Ludlow and Musselbrugh to officially be rated 135.

He then failed to sparkle in two subsequent runs, including when highly tried in the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival, and was on the sidelines for 589 days before reappearing at Doncaster back in November.

Although only fifth of seven behind Gold Present off a mark of 128, and eventually beaten 14 3/4 lengths, Shanroe Santos shaped well for much of the 2m 1f conrest until weakening as lack of fitness took it’s toll.

He then fell at the sixth at Fakenham and failed to fire last time out when a well beaten fifth at Wetherby

The assessor has been quick to drop him another 6lb after that to a mark of 119, and that makes dangerously weighted on his hurdles from.

All his runs this season have also come in class 3 company and Shanroe Santos now drops down into class 4 company for the first time in his career and looks a huge player in this if the first time headgear has the desired effect.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Shanroe Santos (5/1 Betfred, BetVictor, Stan James, William Hill – BOG)
