Simon a Kempton cracker

Young Simon has been found a glorious opportunity to score an overdue success in the 6.50 at Kempton and is of major interest at 7/1.

Young Simon has been shaping as if ready to strike and having slipped to a handy mark makes plenty of appeal at 13/2 in the 4.15 at Wolverhampton.

George Margarson’s gelding has caught the eye on his last four starts, and is now 1lb lower than when last scoring over course and distance back in January.

That was a handicap and this evening he is dropped into classified company against a bunch of rivals that it is very difficult to make a case for.

He stayed on well under tender handling after being badly hampered at the start to finish a never nearer 5 1/2 length 6th of 10 to Doctor Hilary over CD four starts ago, and then enjoyed no luck in running whatsoever at Wolverhampton where after being held up in mid division travelling powerfully he found himself with nowhere to go a furlong from home.

That effort was followed up with a solid second to Chester Deelyte at the Midlands venue, and although well beaten on his latest start that run was over 7f and he travelled well until fading a furlong out over a distance in excess of his best.

The back drop to his optimum trip of 6f today is ideal, and it’s inetresting that connections have booked the services of Ian Mongan who was on board when he scored his only career success but has ridden him in just one of subsequent 10 starts.

Everything suggests a huge run is expected, and from a good draw in stall 1 I can see him outclassing his rivals.
