Snow Bay hot stuff at Musselburgh

Snow Bay has dropped back down to his last winning mark and makes plenty of appeal at 12/1 in the 4.00 at Musselburgh after an eye-catching comeback run.

Dandy Nicholls’ gelding was in fine form in the early part of last season, scoring at this track over a mile off a mark of 82 before following up at Thirsk of 87.

He was then placed in his next four starts off marks of 92 and 94, and ran a cracker off 97 when fifth of 14 to Namecheck at Newmarket in a competitive class 2 contest.

Although his form then tailed off he had been kept very busy, and his overall record suggests that he is at his best in the first half of a season.

If that’s the case he is now well treated to go in again off 87, and he ran a really nice race on his reappearance when finishing 10th of 22 to Norse Blues at Doncaster.

The six-year-old showed his customary dash to race up with the leaders until taking up the running five from home before getting headed two out and weakening inside the last.

He was then not knocked about, and although beaten 10 lengths at the line he showed enough to suggest that he would win more races.

With that run under his belt he would not have to improve much to go very close in this from his current mark, and he could take some pegging back over today’s 7f journey – a trip over which he has scored 3 times in 11 attempts.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Snow Bay (12/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
