Songbird Blues looks the best bet on the Southwell card and is strongly fancied at 4/1 to open her account in the 2.10.
Mark Usher’s filly narrowly failed to land a touch for us when backed in from 12/1 to 9/1 and going down by a fast diminishing head to Sunny Side Up over 6f at Wolverhampton last time out.
Before that she had caught the eye when finishing a never nearer fifth of 11 to Atlantis Crossing over the same course and distance.
Held up at the rear she found her way blocked when trying to make a move a furlong from home, and after being switched to deliver a run stayed on to be beaten just over four lengths without ever threatening to land a blow.
She was not knocked about once it was clear she would not be winning, and both her last two runs have suggested that she is crying out for a step up in trip to today’s 7f.
The handicapper has certainly given her a chance by raising her just 2lb for her fine effort last time up, and if she takes to the fibresand surface she looks sure to take all the beating.
