Stumble to Victory at Newton Abbot

Strumble Head shaped as if ready to strike when runner-up at the weekend, and looks cracking each-way value at 15/2 in the 3.30 at Newton Abbott.

Peter Bowen’s gelding travelled really strongly before fading late to be beaten 12 lengths by E Major at Fontwell last Saturday, and looks well treated in this receiving weight from all his rivals.

He looked progressive when bagging a couple of handicaps at up to 3m in the summer, and is now back down to a mark only 4lb higher than his last win at Worcester.

With the two at the head of the market – King Of The Night and Cockney Trucker – still or conclusively prove that they stay this afternoon’s 2m 6f trip the selection should be able to make the most of the lumps of weight he receives from that pair if this turns into a stamina test.

I can’t believe he is as big as 15/2, and find it impossible to see him not being in the frame at the very least.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Strumble Head (15/2 bet365, boylesports, Paddy Power – BOG)
