Summer Dancer looks good value at 7/1 to exploit a career-low mark and land the 7.30 at Thirsk this evening.
Paul Midgely’s nine-year-old was rated as high as 82 at his peak, and although getting no younger showed he was capable of still winning races whne landing a class 6 handicap at Muselbrugh last September off a mark of 65 when running on strongly to beat Ebony Clarets by 1 1/4 lengths.
He has failed to trouble the judge since that success but has caught the eye on his last two starts in two class 5 contests when keeping on late fifth of 10 to Relight My Fire at Beverley and when a never nearer 7th of 12 to Destination Aim at this venue when poorly placed and not knocked about.
The gelding has since been dropped another 2lb since his last run, and now gets into this off a mark of just 58.
That is the lowest he has ever raced off and 7lb below his last winning mark.
It gives him major claims at the weights, especuially as he now drops down in grade into class 6 selling company.
He does have a tendancy to start slowly at times, but if getting away on level terms he should get the strong pace he needs to be seen at his best in this line-up and everything suggests a huge run is on the cards.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Summer Dancer (7/1 bet365, Hills – BOG)
