Be Swift and snap up the 12s about Cedar

Swift Cedar was a massive eye-catcher last time out and looks overpriced at 12/1 in the 8.25 at Kempton tonight.

The gelding was a dual winner last summer when trained by Alan Jarvis, with his last win coming in a mile hadnicap on the turf at Newcastle where he held on gamely to score by a neck off a mark of 75.

Now in the care of Jeremy Gask, he has shaped really well on his last two starts and signalled that his time is near.

In the first of those he got beart just 1/2 a length by Commissar in a mile contest at Kempton off a mark of 70, staying on well after dwelling at the start.

He then ran far better than his finishing position suggests last time out today’s course and distance when given far too much to do.

Held-up at the rear that day, he lost vital ground by racing out wide but then ran on strongly from the two marker under considerate handling to finish a never nearer 3 1/4 length  fifth of 11 to Club House.

To me he finished with plenty of running left in him that day, and although now running off 1lb higher – 71 – he is still 4lb below his last winning mark.

The four-year-old is also 9lb lower than his highest rating of 81, and there is little doubt that he is weighted to go in again.

Another plus is that he has a good draw to explot in stall 3, and that should enable Luke Morris to tuck him in behind the leaders early doors and get a good early position.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Swift Cedar (12/1 Boylesports – BOG)
