16/1 Rash Judgement handicapped to score
Rash Judgement is down to a career-low mark in the 3.10 Goodwood and looks outstanding each-way value at 16/1.
The six year-old is on a long losing streak having not won since landing a 6f handicap at Newmarket last summer, but has become very well treated as a result and has now rejoined Stuart Kittow.
Kittow knows how to get the best out of the gelding, and it would be no surprise if he bounces back to his best at a track where he has run well in the past.
The selection is now down to a mark of just 74 and is 8lb lower than when beating Pirate’s Song by 1/2 a length in the mud at headquarters last August.
He also finished an excellent 3/4 length second to Quest For Success in a listed event at Hamilton last year off a mark of 94, so there is no doubt whatsoever that he is handicapped to go in again.
Although he has failed to trouble the judge in eight starts this season he has run better than his form figures suggest on several occasions, and with conditions very much in his favour this afternoon looks way overpriced at 16/1.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Rash Judgement (16/1 generally available – BOG firms)
9/1 Mirror Lake ready to cause a splash
Mirror Lake has a fantastic record at Goodwood and looks worth chancing at 9/1 to bounce back to form in the 3.45.
Amanda Perrett’s filly was hugely progressive last year, when she won 3 times – twice over today’s course and distance.
She finished the season with a highly creditable second to Red Badge in a Group 3 over course and distance in September, and although she has not recaptured that level of form in four starts this season she has far from been disgraced.
One of her best runs came when beaten just 1 1/2 lengths into fourth behind Timepiece in a listed event at Warwick, and she followed that up with a solid second to Sea Of Heartbreak in a similar contest at Newbury.
Her run at York last time out was quite simply too bad to be true, and now that she is returned to her favourite stomping ground I would not be surprised to see her bounce right back to her best.
She has every chance of landing this if doing so, and under her optimum conditions there is now way that she should be a double figure price.
The 9/1 on offer should be snapped up.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Mirror Lake (9/1 Victor Chandler, Paddy Power, Ladbrokes – BOG)
20/1 Aldwick Bay an each-way cracker
Aldwick Bay looks way overpriced at 20/1 if bouncing back to his best in the 4.20 at Goodwood.
Richard Hannon’s has run below par in his last two starts, but before those efforts had shown himself to be a progressive sort capable of scoring off today’s mark of 81.
He showed a terrific attitude to come from behind and battle on tenaciously to beat Sir Henry Cecil’s well regarded Scared Shield by a head over course and distance back in June, and ran a cracker when returned to this venue for the big meeting in August.
The son of Danehill Dancer got beat a nose by Kinyras despite not getting the clearest of runs, and was in my book unlucky not to collect.
He clearly runs the Sussex track very well, and the level of form he has shown in those two runs sets a decent standard in this line-up.
There is no doubt in my mind that he is capable of landing this at his best, and there is no way that he should be a 20/1 shot.
All bar one of his rivals have yet to race at the track, and his ability to handle the unique undulations is a major plus.
I had him priced up at around the 10/1 mark on my tissue, so at double those odds he makes plenty of each-way appeal.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Aldwick Bay (20/1 Stan James)
