Bedlam can wreak havoc at 20/1 at Redcar

Bedlam is fitted with headgear for the first time in the 2.50 at Redcar today, and looks worth an each-way punt at 20/1.

Tim Easterby’s filly was a massive eye-catcher on her debut her over 6f ay York back in June where she went badly left at the start and ran very green before the penny began to drop.

She finished with a real rattle without being knocked about to finish third to Swiss Spirit, and again showed promise when a staying on fifth to Loyal Master two starts back at Beverley.

That race was over 7f and she was never put into the contest at any stage before keeping on steadily from the rear in the final two furlongs to be beaten just under six lengths.

The daughter of Auction House failed to build on that last time out when well beaten by Risky Art at York, where she was never travelling at any stage and was beaten out of sight.

However her connections know the time of day when it comes to getting horses on marks to plunder handicaps, and she is now down to 62 having started life off on 70.

I am convinced that she capable of scoring off that mark if putting it all in, and the headgear could well be the key to her living up to her earlier promise.

She is certainly not straightforward and comes with risks attached, but on her best form she is too big to let go unbacked at 20/1
