Trainer Venetia Williams hs her team in terrific shape and Top And Drop looks worth a wager to provide her with another winner in the 2.10 at Chepstow today.
The eight-year-old mare is yet to get her head in front but did run well on a couple of occasions over hurdles, most notably when a 1/2 length second of 13 to Kayf Charmer at Ffos Las off a mark of 100.
She also posted an improved effort on her second start over fances at this venue when an 11 1/4 length third of 13 to Benny’s King in a class 4 from 1lb out of the weights off a rating of 96.
Top And Drop then bombed out seven days later when sent off the 5/2 favourite and pulled-up in a class 2 at Hereford.
However, that run was too bad to be true and may have come too quickly – so it’s too soon to write her off.
She also now drops back down into class 4 company and on her run behind Benny’s King should be more than capable of winning a race of this nature.
So with Williams’ operating at a strike rate of just under 42 per cent in the last 14 days,Top And Drop is taken to get off the mark under in-form rider Charlie Deutsch.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Top And Drop (7/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
