Tuck into the 9s about Tawseef

Tawseef is back down to an exploitable mark and with underfoot conditions to suit looks cracking value at 9/1 in the 5.30 at Windsor today.

Roy Brotherton’s gelding revels in the mud as he showed when powering clear to win by 4 lengths over 1m 2f at Brighton last season off a mark of 59.

He went on to finish an excellent second of 12 to Monthlyt Medal on soft ground at Nottihgham in an amateur riders affair, and got back to winning ways on his second start this year when cosily bearing April Ciel on good-to-sofdt ground at Chepstow off 67.

The five-year-old then finished a solid third to Dandy off 70 at Chepstow on fast ground which would have been against him, and although he has not been at his best in three subsequent starts the handicapper has now dropped him a few pounds.

He now gets into this off 68 – just 1lb higher than his last success, and more importantly gets the testing conditions that he needs to be seen at his best.

The combination of the handicapper cutting him some slack and soft ground look sure to see him in a better light, and the fact that he also has proven winning form under an amateur rider is another plus.

The once slight concern is that he hasn’t yet won over today’s trip of 1m 4f, but he has had only three tries at it and finished placed on two occasions.

One of those saw him finish runner-up on soft ground at Brighton where he stayed on well, so I can’t see any reason why it should prove any real problem.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Tawseef (9/1 Hills – BOG)
