Solemn has slipped to a dangerous mark and makes plenty of appeal at 15/2 to finally take advantage in the 5.00 at Windsor today.

Milton Bradley’s eight-year-old ended last season out of form and hadn’t shown much this time round until catching the eye when fourth of 10 to Storm Lightning at Wolverhampton three starts back

He kept on inside the last without ever threatening to land a blow at the leaders to be beaten 3 lengths without being knocked about and then backed up that effort with a fair fourth of 12 to The Strig on soft ground at Sandown off a mark of 73 where he showed good pace to lead from a wide draw until weakening a furlong from hom to be beaten just over 4 lengths.

The gelding then again showed plenty of pace to race up with the leaders at Goodwood last time out in an apprentice handicap before weakening late on and has since been dropped a further 3lb by the assessor to a mark of 70.

That is his lowest rating in four years, and 13lb below his last winning mark which came on soft ground over the minimum trip at Sandown last June in a class 4 contest where he made all and bolted up to win easing down by 6 lengths from Church Music.

It makes him look dangerously well-treated in this class 5 affair, and another plus is that he has a course and distance win to his name.

The testing conditions are also ideal, and with Adam Kirby in the saddle this looks a good opportunity for him to regsiter and overdue success.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Solemn (15/2 Paddy Power – BOG)
