Two crackers for Kempton

Beat the bet at 14/1

Beat Route shaped really well last time out and looks worth an each-way interest at 14/1 in the 6.20 at Kempton.

The four-year-old was travelled really well over course and distance two weeks ago when only run out of it close home and finishing a 2 lengths fourth of 10 to Ninfea, and if building on that effort is handicapped to go very close.

Michael Attwater’s charge races off a pound lower mark tonight, and off a rating of 64 is only 4lb higher than when last successful.

He also seems to reserve his best for the polytrack surface, and has been successful at this venue off a mark of 65.

Another plus is that he has a good low draw to exploit from stall 1, and with Jemma Marshall – who get’s on well with him – taking off another 5lb everything looks in place for a big run.

I certainly think he looks overpriced at 14/1, and at those odds he has to be worth an each-way interest.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Beat Route (14/1 generally available – use BOG firms)

Court Applause too big at 10s

The unexposed Court Applause looks worth chancing at 10/1 in the finale at Kempton this evening (7.50).

William Muir’s gelding put in two really solid efforts earlier in the year when twice finishing runner-up at Lingfield, and the form of those races looks strong in the context of this contests.

Although he has failed to sparkle in his last two runs, he seemed to resent the blinkers when last seen in action back June and they are wisely left off tonight.

He also comes into this on the back of a break to freshen him up, and given that he ran well when chasing home Choral at Lingfield after a similar lay-off this could be the right time to catch him.

The son of Royal Applause certainly doesn’t look badly in at the weights from a mark of 63, and this weak looking contest represents a good chance for him to break his duck.

I am surprised that he is available to back at double figure odds given that his rivals are fully exposed and I can see him going off shorter than the 10s available come the off.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Court Applause 910/1 generally available – us BOG firms)

  1. great stuff as always Dave, I like the fact you always look for value rather than the short priced rubbish that the usual red top tipsters turn out. Well done
