Two Hot Yorkies

Passionada the punt at 15/2

Passionda has always looked the type to do well in nurseries and makes plenty of appeal at 15/2 in the opener at York (2.00).

Ollie Pears’ filly finished miles clear of the third when a well supported runner-up to Ruby Night on her debut at Newcastle and duly went one better when making all and staying on strongly to brat Royal Trix at Pontefract last time out.

She shaped then as if a step up in trip to today’s six furlong journey would bring about even further improvement, and given how highly she is held in regard by the stable the handicapper could have let her in lightly off an opening mark of 73.

With conditions ideal and Paul Hanagan in the saddle she looks sure to take all the beating.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Passionada (15/2 Sportingbet)

14/1 George ready to strike

Harrison George has slipped to a decent mark and looks solid each-way value at 14/1 in the 3.05 at York.

Richard Fahey’s gelding won four times at up to a mile in 2010, including at this track, and is now a massive 16lb below his last winning mark.

That victory came in a listed contest at Redcar where he battled on gamely to beat Eton Rifles by a length.

He shaped as if he was about to cash-in on the handicappers leniency when an eye-catching fourth at Ayr on his penultimate start, and his last run over 1m 1f can be ignored as the trip is clearly beyond him.

Today’s 1 mile journey is ideal, and if he can run up to anywhere near his best then he must go close.

At 14/1 he looks cracking each-way value.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Harrison George (14/1 generally available – BOG firms)
