20/1 Russe Blanc makes plenty of each-way appeal
Russe Blanc shaped with plenty of promise on his hurdling debut and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 20/1 in the 2.10 at Warwick.
Richard Lee’s charge looked a really nice prospect when landing his sole start in a bumper at this track back in January and confirmed that impression when putting in an eye-catching effort over the obstacles at Chepstow last month following a lengthy lay-off.
The four-year-old, who gets the very rare distinction of officially being classed as a white gelding, travelled really powerfully for much of the 2m 1f journey before getting outpaced when the tempo quickened.
However despite being far from fluent over some of his obstacles he kept on really well under tender handling, and although eventually beaten 10 lengths into third by Lamps he ran far better than his finishing position indicates.
That experience is sure to stand him in good stead this afternoon, and although he faces some potentially nice prospects he his fitness is guaranteed and he looks sure to improve and win races.
There is no doubt in my mind that he will win plenty of races, and at 20/1 I think he is overpriced and has good prospects of making the frame at the very least despite this looking a pretty hot novice event.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Russe Blanc (20/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
5/1 Orang Outan of major interest
Orang Outan has a terrific record fresh and at 5/1 looks the one to be on in the 3.10 at Warwick this afternoon.
The gelding returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines to land a gamble on his debut for this yard at Towcester back in February off a mark of 92, and showed that’s today’s mark of 100 was not beyond him when following up with with a solid second at Taunton in March.
Although he has not been seen since that is a good thing as two off his three wins over hurdles has come after being off the track for 353 and 658 days.
The nine-year-old’s handler Laura Hurley looks to have laid him out to go in at first time of asking, and with regular pilot David Bass taking off an invaluable 3lb everything looks in place for a huge run in a race which lacks any real strength in depth.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Orang Outan (5/1 Coral)
