100/30 Mount McCleod poised to open account
Mount McCleod has been unlucky in her last three runs and is strongly fancied at 100/30 to finally open her account in the 6.30 at Wolverhampton this evening.
Jamie Osbourne’s filly travelled very strongly in a race over 5f here six days ago, but found herself with nowhere to go at a a furlong from homee and had to be switched wide to try and deliver a challenge.
She finished well but the leaders had flown and she eventually finished a never neearer two length fourth of 10 to Look here’s Lady
Before that she blew her chance of winning last at Sandown with a slow start but kept on well to finish third and get within 2 lengths of the winner Mr Hendrix.
Prior to that she had also got no luck in running whatsoever when runner-up to Guava in handicap at Nottingham and did well to be beaten just over a length.
After being slowly away, she made smooth headway to track the leaders before being squeezed out when coming to deliver her challenge at the furlong marker and after losing vital lengths produced a strong run to snatch second on the line.
Hving been dropped a pound by the handicapper since her last run there is little doubt in my mind that she is very well treated of a mark of 53, and the step up in trip to 6f looks sure to suit her far better than the bare minimum.
At 100/30 she is of serious interest.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Mount McLeod (100/30 Sky Bet)
Evens And Odds a banker at 11/8
Evens And Odds looks a banker at 11/8 to give Paul Hanagan another winner in the 7.00 at Wolverhampton tonight.
The seven-year-old looks a class above hisrivals, and ran well in similar company when finding 5f too sharp her last time out.
He got outpaced at the rear of the field that day but stayed on strongly to be beaten just under two lengths into fourth behind Master Of Disguise.
The step up in trip to 6f this evening will suit him far better, and he now runs off a mark of just 95 in claiming company having beaten the classy Redford by 1/2 a laength in a class 2 handicap at Thirsk back in April.
He also won the Stewards Cup back in 2010, and although clearly no longer the force of old it will be a major shock if he doesn’t win this poor contest with a bit to spare.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Evens And Odds (11/8 bet365 – BOG)
