3/1 Beidh can bash the bookies

Beidh Tine Anseo ran a cracker when runner-up on his reappearance and holds outstanding claims of going one better in the 2.30 at Musselburgh.

Lucinda Rsusell’s gelding went down by just 1/2 a length to Wheetfromthechaff at Kelso 19 days ago, and although the handicapper has put him up 4lb to a mark of 119 he still looks well treated.

The gelding proved himself a useful type at this level last season when landing a hat-trick in may, with his last win coming off a mark of 122 at Cartmel.

He went on to finish an excellent fourth to Astracad in a decent contest at Cheltenham, and given that he is 3lb lower this afternoon this represents a great chance for him to score from a handicapping perspective.

The useful claimer Grant Cockburn also takes another 10lb off his back, and with his trainer in good form and conditions in his favour he looks the one they all have to beat.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Beidh Tine Anseo (3/1 generally available – BOG firms)

Alta Khan get back on winning trail

Alta Khan gets the step up in trip that he has been crying out for in the 3.30 at Musselburgh and rates a solid bet at 3/1.

Malcolm Jefferson’s charge made a smooth transition to fences when scoring by a wide margin on his debut over the larger obstacles at Sedgefield over two miles, and ran even better off a 9olb higher mark when third to Quicuyo over the same trip at Carlisle last time out.

He travelled well that day but got outpaced at a vital stage before staying on powerfully to be beaten just 1 3/4 lengths.

The way he was going on at the finish suggested to me that an extra half a mile would be right up his street and  and connections have wasted no time in upping him to 2m 4f.

That looks a shrewd move, and although the assessor has put him up another 3lb to a mark of 120 I think that the extra distance will bring about further improvement which will enable him to defy the rise.

I had him priced up at no bigger than 5/2 for this, so the 3/1 on offer with Boylesports looks excellent value for a horse with a progressive profile.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Alta Khan (3/1 Boylesports – BOG)
