Gabbiano has become dangerously well-treated and looks worth a wager at 12/1 in the 8.40 at Kmepton this evening.
Jeremy Gask’s charge did well in 2013 when winning three sprint handicaps, with his last success coming off a mark of 85 at Ascot.
He went on to finish an excellent fourth of 16 to Dungannonat the same venue off a mark of 89, where after being held-up off the pace he stayed on to be beaten just 1 1/4 lengths.
The six-year-old drew blank last season, but did run some solid races and now gets into this off just 76.
That is 9lb lower than when last successful, and his lowest rating in two years.
It gives Gabbiano, who has won twice over course and distance, a huge shout at the weights and although he has not been at his best the last twice he had previously run well when staying on to finish a never near fifth of 11 to Searchlight at Wolverhampton after getting badly hampered at the start off a mark of 80.
He has also won after a break in the past, and if a 132 break has freshened him up Gabbianno is weighted to run a huge race.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Gabbiano (12/1 bet365, BetVictor, Paddy Power, William Hill – BOG)
