Polski Max has become dangerously well-treated and makes plenty of appeal at 12/1 in the 4.10 at Redcar today.
Richard Fahey’s gelding was in good form in the early part of last year when winning back-to-back handicaps at Pontefract and Hamilton on soft ground.
The last of those successes came off a mark of 97 in a class 3 contest where he kept on strongly to beat Lucky Beggar by 3/4 of a length.
The four-year-old went on to finish a highly creditable ninth of 20 to Baccarat in the class 2 Great St Wilfred at Ripon off 98 on good ground and now gets into this class 4 contest off just 83.
That means he is now 14lb below his last winning mark and gives him a massive chance from a handicapping perspective on the pick of his form.
Although Polski Max has failed to trouble the judge in four starts this season, he hinted that he could be on the way back last time out when keeping on to finish a 3 1/2 length sixth of 9 to Line Of Reason at Thirsk and the winner has since gone on to land decent contests at the Curragh and York.
If Polski Max can build on that there is little doubt he is weighted to win this, and any rain that falls would only further enhanace his chances.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Polski Max (12/1 Coral, Paddy Power, Sky Bet – BOG)
