Well-treated Shades Of Grey a solid punt at 5s

Shades Of Grey has been given a massive chance by the handicapper and with underfoot conditions to suit is strongly fancied at 5/1 to take advantage and land the spoils in the 4.30 at Bath Today.

Clive Cox’s mare was in good form in 2012 when winning back-to-back apprentice handicaps at Newbury.

The last of those successes came off a mark of 72 where she ran on strongly to slam Dancing Primo by 5 lengths on soft ground.

The seven-year-old went on to finish an excellent runner-up to Sula Two off 80, and although she drew a blank last year her mark has fallen as a result.

She now gets into this off just 65, her lowest rating since October 2011 and 7lbs below her last winning mark.

It gives the daugter of Dr Fong an outstanding chance at the weights, especially with Ryan Tate in the saddle taking another 5lb off her back.

Connections also appear to have found her what looks a very winnable class 5 contest lacking any real strength in depth, and she has to take all the beating if ready to roll after 215 days on the sidelines on ground that hols no fears.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Shades Of Grey (5/1 Betvictor – BOG)
