West Coast Dream has dropped a long way in the weights and with soft ground conditions to suit looks worth a wager at 7/1 in the 3.05 at Nottingham today.

The gelding’s last success came in testing conditions at Windsor last July off a mark of 82.

Roy Brotherton’s charge was whacked up to a mark of 92 after that success, and consequently failed to trouble the judge in his final two starts of 2012.

He was also not at his best in his first couple of outings this season, but then shaped far better in his next two starts.

The first of those came at Kempton where he showed plenty of early dash to lead until weakening late on to be beaten 3 1/2 lengths into third behind Church Music.

He then backed that up with a solid third of 12 to Rebecca Romero at Salisbury where he did best of those that raced up with the pace in what was a strongly run affair.

The six-year-old has subsequently failed to build on thos efforts in his last three starts, but his mark has fallen as a result and he now gets into this off just 75.

That is 7lb lower than when he last scored and the lowest rating he has been on since April 2011.

It gives him a major shout at the weights on the pick of his form, and with the ground in his favour he can get back to winning ways.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win West Coast Dream (7/1 Boylesports, Paddy Power – BOG)
