Wolves Runners Worth a Punt

10/1 Welcome Approach worth a wager

Course specialist Welcome Approach has slipped back down a winning mark and looks worth an interest at 10/1 in the 5.55 at Wolverhampton.

John Weymes eight-year-old is best when coming off a strong pace and looks sure to get that this evening with plenty of trailblazers in the line-up.

He didn’t have the race run to suit when finishing a close-up 6th of 13 to Colourbearer here two starts ago, but in the circumstances ran well to be beaten just 2 1/4 lengths.

That run suggested to me that he would be back in the winners’ enclosure before long, and he can be forgiven his ltest run on the turf at Catterick as he lost all chance at the start when his rider removed the blind late.

He is a course and distance winner who seems to reserve his best for this track, and now back on his favourite stomping ground he has every chance of cashing-in off a mark of 59.

The gelding’s scored off that mark her back in February when ridden by Jimmy Quinn, and it’s interesting that he is back on board today.

Everything looks in place for a huge run, and at 10/1 it’s hard to see him not finishing in the frame at the very least granted luck in running.

Totally Ours too big at 14/1
If Totally Ours came bounce back to anywhere near her best she is absolutely thrown-in at the weights in the 8.25 at Wolverhampton, and at 14/1 she looks way overpriced.

Bill Muir’s fiully developed into a useful sort last season, running well in a number of listed contests.

She was a solid third to Nouriya off a mark of 89 at York, came a solid fifth in a class 1 event at Baden-Baden and was far from disgraced when seventh of 15 to Modeyra off a mark of 94 in a listed event at Newamrket.

It’s true to say that she hasn’t progressed as expected this season and has only m,anaged to place in one of her 8 starts.

However her handicap mark has plummetted to just 79 as a result, and that gives her an oustanding chnace from a handicap persepctive in this line-up.

She is now only 3lb higher than when scoring on her seasonal reappearnce at Kmepton last season, and there is little doubt that she could eat this lot for breakfast if back to anywhere near her best.

At 14/1 she is too big to go unbacked and has to be worth an each-way interest.

Recommended bet: 2pts each-way Totally Ours (14/1 Betfred – BOG, totesport, Stan James)
