World Cup Betting Preview: Germany v Portgual

Germany looking cracking value at even money with Paddy Power to win their opening game against Portugal today (5pm KO, Live on ITV1).

Die Mannschaft have opened their last six World Cups with a victory, and the last time they failed to win their opening game was back in 1986 when they drew 1-1 with Uruguay.

They also only lost one of their last 18 games in the group stages of the World Cup, winning 13 and drawing four.

Joachim Low’s side is also packed full of talent, including midfidlers Thomas Muller, Mario Gotze and Mesut Ozil as well as vertran striker Miroslav Klose and Arenal’s Lukas Podolski.

They are all capable of scoring goals, as is Andre Schurrle who could be a bit of value at 8/1 with Coral in the first goalscorer market.

Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, will be no pushover but their squad is not as strong as Germany’s and they have only won three of their 17 previous internationals against them(D5, L9).
