World Cup Betting Preview: Netherlands v Argentina

The Ntherlands look a decent punt at 9/4 with Coral and Stan James to win their semi-final game against Argentina tonight (9pm KO, Live on ITV1).

The teams have met four times in the World Cup, with Dutch winning twice, Argentina once, and the other game ending in a draw.

Indeed, Argentina’s victory in the 1978 final, is their only win against Netherlands in eight meetings overall (L4, D3).

Those stats suggest that Louis Van Gaal’s side are overpriced to win this, especially considering they have arguably been more impressive in the tournament so far than their opponents.

The Netherlands have scored 12 goals compared to La Albiceleste’s 8, and although they only got through the quater-final game against Costa Rica on penalties they dominated the match and hit the woodwork three times.

Argentina have needed some inspired moments from captain Lionel Messi to get them this far, and are they think have looked ordinary and are priced up as favourites on the back of reputation rather than what they have achieved on the pitch.

As far as first goalscorer is concerned, I am going to side with Robin van Persie to break the dealock at 7/1 with BetVictor and Coral.

I also like the look of over 2.5 goals at 6/4 with BetVictor and Coral, and fancy the Netherlands to triumph 3-1 at a tasty looking 35/1 with BetVictor.
