Imperator Augustus weighted to strike now dropped in grade

Imperator Augustus drops back down into the grade in which he was last successful in the 4.30 at Catterick today and is strongly fancied at 6/1 to take advantage and land the spoils.

Patrick Holmes’ gelding bounce back to form when easily beatring Cyflymder by 2 3/4 lenths over 7f in a class 6 contest at Musslelburgh in May off a mark of 59, after which he was put up 6lb to 65.

The six-year-old was then soundly beaten in two classs 5 contests, but didn’t run too badly on his penultimate  start in the same grade when a keeping on third of 9 to Mowhoob at Musselbrugh when given too much to do.

Imperator Augustus thne found the step up into class 4 company and the mile trip too much for him at Carlisle last time out, but has since been dropped another 2lb and now races off 62.

That gives him every chance at the weights, especially now dropped back into class 6 company.

He is now in the right grade, and won off 2lb higher in it at Leicester in quick ground last August.

The 7f trip and underfoot condiions are also ideal, and another plus is that he now gets the professional srvices in the saddle of Danny Tudhope having been apprentice ridden for the majority of the season.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Imperator Augustus (6/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
