World Cup Betting Preview: Netherlands v Mexico

The first of today’s knockout games sees Netherlands take on Mexico (5pm KO, Live on ITV1), and the Dutch rate a solid bet at 21/20 tith Paddy Power to emerge victorious.

The Oranje impressed in the group stages when winning all three mathces and netting 10 goals in the process.

Arjen Robben has been in unstoppable form, scoring three, and is now reunited in attack with Robin van Persie who was forced to miss the last game thruigh suspension.

The pair are deadly in front of goal, and it’s hard to see how Mexico are going to stop them causing all sorts of problems.

Robin van Persie has now scored 21 goals in his last 25 appearances for the Oranje, and looks the obvious punt in the first goalscorer market at a standout 5/1 with Ladbrokes.

Another bet that appeals is over 2.5 goals at 11/10 with Paddy Power as Mexico have lost three and drawn one of their last four encounters with the Netherlands, conceding at least two goals in each defeat.

I also like the look of the 15/4 on offer with Coral for both teams to score and Holland to win, as Mexico have some useful strikers and the Dutch defence has looked vulnerable at times.
