World Cup Betting Preview: Nigeria v Argentina

Argentina are 4/9  to win their game against Nigeria today (5pm KO, Live on ITV1), but the best bet has to be Lionel Messi to score anytime at 8/11 with Hills.

Messi has scored in both Argentina’s wins in their opening two games, and has now netted eight in his last seven appearances for his country.

He is the key player able to turn games on their head, and also the penalty taker which adds further value to the 8/11 on offer – especially as he is as short at 1/2 elsewhere.

The other bet that appeals is under 2.5 goals at a standout 6/5 with Boylesports.

Nigeria  have now gone 221 minutes without conceding a World Cup goal, and Argentina have managed to score just 6 in 8  matches against the Super Eagles.

That is an avergage of 1.3 a game, and this match could be a lot closer than the odds indicate as a draw would suit both sides.

A sgare of the spoils would see Agentina top the group, while a point would also see Nigeria through to the last 16.

That suggests that this may not turn into the expected goalfest, and a small punt on the draw at 100/30 with bet365 and Boylesports also looks the order of the day.
