12/1 Eshoog can blitz rivals
The trail blazing Eshoog is drawn to attack in the 2.45 at Yarmouth and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 12/1.
Those drawn high and racing down the stands rail seemed to have an advantage yesterday, and Phil McEntee’s filly could take some pegging back from gate 13.
The daughter of Kyllachy made all three starts back to score over 6f at Warwick off an official rating of 65, and looked as if ready to go in again when runner-up to Valmina at Wolverhampton on her latest start.
She led the field at a blistering pace that day and only got caught close home after being ridden two lengths clear two from home and looking to have the race in the bag.
That was a solid effort, and given that she started life in handicaps off a mark of 76 this season she looks well treated off a mark of 63 this afternoon.
Leonna Mayor, who has teamed up with her four times – winning once, and finishing runner-up on the other three – also takes off another invaluable 7lb and clearly knows how to get a tune out of her.
Everything looks in place for a huge run, and the 14/1 on offer looks massive.
At those odds she looks terrific each-way value.
Recommended bet: 2pts each-way Eshoog (12/1 generally available- BOG firms)
14/1 Nelsons Bounty can bring home the loot
Nelsons Bounty takes a drop in class in the 5.00 at Yarmouth and looks too big to ignore at 14/1.
Paul Darcy’s gelding scored twice last season and looked sure to go on to better things when landing a competitive 18-runner handicap at Ascot on his seasonal reappearance back in April.
Patiently ridden that day, he showed a good turn of foot to beat Lord Aeryn with more in hand than the official winning margin of 1/2 a length suggests in a race that has thrown up plenty of subsequent winners.
Things have not gone right for him in four starts since, but the handicapper has eased him as a result and he is now just 2lb higher than when scoring at Ascot.
That gives him a good chance from a handicapping perspective in this line up, which represents the easiest opportunity he has had for some time.
I had him priced up at no bigger than 8s for this, so the 14/1 on offer with Sky Bet looks far too big and represents excellent each-way value.
Recommended bet; 2pts each-way Nelsons Bounty (14/1 Sky Bet)
