Chain Of Events has a terrific record at Sandown and looks worth siding with at 12/1 in the 3.50 there today having slipped below his last winning mark.
Michael Wigham’s gelding has won four of his nine starts over course and distance, and was in cracking form last summer when landing a hat-trick of handicaps.
The last of those successes came in a class 3 affair over CD off a mark of 80, and the eight-year-old went on to finish a creditable 14th of 22 to GM Hopkins in the class 2 Silver Cambridgeshire at Newmarket of 82.
He now gets into this off 77, 3lb lower than when last successful, having hinted that he was coming to hand last time out at Newmarket ..
That was Chain Of Events second run of the campaign, and he should now be spot on to do himself justice and has to be of interest of his current mark now returned to his favourite stomping ground.
