Mustique makes plenty of appeal at 9/2 in the 3.30 at Musselburgh today now eased in grade and stepped up in trip.

Richard Fahey’s filly scored in good style on debut as a juvenile but has failed to get her head in front in four subsequent outings.

Howver, she ran well on seasonal reappearance when third over 6f at Ripon off a mark of 79 and caught the eye off the saem rating last time out when staying on from off the pace to finish seventh of 14 to Silver Rainbow in a class 3 contest over 6f at Newmarket.

The latter suggested she was well worth a crack at 7f and the assessor has since dropped her 2lb to a mark of 77.

That should enable her to be really competitive givenm that she was thought good enough to contest a Group 3 contest on her second start as a juvenile and Mustique also now drops back down into class 4 company.

She also remain lightly raced and open to further improvement after just five starts and this doesn’t look the strongest of contests for the grade.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Mustique (9/2 Boylesports, Coral, Paddy Power, Sky Bet – BOG)
