Unreliable – But Still Worth A Bet?

You rarely see a seller these days but they have proved fruitful for me over the years and hopefully the 3.00pm at Goodwood will not be an exception. By definition, these aren’t the most reliable of horses, but on official ratings it looks like Andrew Balding’s Torre Del Oro is the one to beat.

A winner at Wolverhampton over a mile and a half in April, he has been well-beaten on both starts since, bit more importantly he wears cheekpieces for the first time here looking to sharpen up his act. According to the handicapper he is rated 12lb or more superior to all his rivals in this field, and with Oisin Murphy in the saddle, he has to have an above average chance of success.
