11/2 Bleu has to be the bet

Royaume Bleu looks to have been found a weak race to make his chasing debut and at 11/2 looks the standout bet on today’s card at Towcester (3.50).

Alex Hales’ six-year-old was rated as high as 88 over hurdles and ran well off a mark of 85 when fourth of 11 in a handicap hurdle at Plumpton.

The lightly raced gelding was often the subject of plenty of support last season which suggest that connections feel he has the ability to win races and was nicely treated.

If that’s the case then he must have every chance in this off an opening mark of just 76, and given that he was placed in a  point to point it could be that chasing will prove to be his game.

Don’t get me wrong, he is certainly no world beater but this is probably as weak a novice chase as you will see all season and connections look to have found him a golden opportunity to go in at the first time of asking.

Granted a clear round I would be disappointed if he is not good enough to score, and at 11/2 with Hills he looks overpriced.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Royaume Bleu (11/2 Hills – BOG)
