Burnhope run off a career-low mark in the 5.45 at Leicester today and looks worth siding with at 5/1 to take advantage now stepped back up in trip and fitted with the hood for the first time.
Scott Dixon’s charge registered his last victory at Kampton back in January 2013, where he beat Profile Star by a neck off a mark of 70 in a class 4 contest.
He now gets into this lower grade class 6 affair of 17lb lower, and that gives him a huge chance from a handicapping perspective if putting his best foot forward.
It’s fair to day that he has been very disappointing this year, but he did show that all was not lost when shaping well on his penultimate start over 6f at Nottingham when third of of 14 to Prigsnov Dancer in an apprentice race.
The five-year-old showed plenty of early dash to chase the leaders that day before keeping on well to be beaten 5 3/4 lengths, but then failed to build on that effort last time out at the same venue when a well beatenb 11th of 16 to Medam.
The Ontoawinner syndicate owned gelding now gets fitted with the hood for the first time, having often run as if some sort of headgear may well help.
If it gets his mind on the job then there is little doubt that Burnhope is dangerously well-treared in what is a very weak looking contest, and it’s inetresting that he is also now being stepped back up to 7f as he was very impressive when winning his maiden over it in February 2012 and – apart from one run over it since – has been campaigned over sprint distances since the start of 2013.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Burnhope (5/1 bet365, BetVictor, Boylesports, Hills – BOG)
