Clock On Tom a 25/1 Brighton beauty

Clock On Tom is a rare runner at Brighton for trainer Mick Easterby in the 4.50 today and looks worth siding with at 25/1 having fallen below his  last winning mark.

Yorkshire-based Easterby has had just one runner at the seaside venue since 2000, and that came placed.

The fact that Clock On Tom is just the second horse to make the long trip down south in 14 years in itself is interesting, and the gelding is also now 4lb lower than when last successful.

That win came in a class 5 contest over a mile at Beverley where Clock On Tom made all to beat Mushakis by 1 3/4 lengths last May.

The son of Trade Fair was put up to 66 after that success, and was far from disgraced off it when fifth of 13 to Lexington Blue over 7f in another class 5 contest at Beverley.

The four-year-old now gets into this class 6 contest off just 56, and that makes him look dangerously well-treated on the pick of his form.

Although Clock On Tom has yet to sparkle in two runs this season, those outings should have blown away the cobwebs and it would be no suprise to see him bounce back and put in a much improved performance having been cut plenty of slack by the assessor.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Clock On Tom (25/1 Stan James, William Hill – BOG)
