Copper West shaped as if ahead of his mark last time out on handicap debut and looks worth a wager to land the spoils in the 2.30 at Carlisle today.
The seven-year-old shaped with ability in a coupel of bumpers in Ireland, most notably when a keeping on 12 length fourth of 12 to Summerville Boy at Killarney.
Summerville Boy has dveloped into a really useful hurdler now rated 150 after landing the Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown last time out.
That effort suggest and opening handicap mark of 115 for Copper West could be on the lenient side and he was far from disgraced in his first two spins over hurdles this season since joining Tom George.
In the last of those at Ludlow she stayed on to be nearest at the finish when a 20 length third of 15 to the highly regarded Indian Hawk.
Altough eventually beaten 9 lengths when third to Slanlough at Doncaster last month on handicap debut over an exteneded 2m 3f he travelled ominously well into the contest and looked the likely winner two from home until fading late on.
The drop back to 2m 1f looks sure to suit and off an unchanged rating this looks a good openning from hom to get off the mark.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pt win Copper West (7/2 bet365, BetVictor, Betfred Coral – BOG)
