Courtesy the Call in Ces trial

The progressive Courtesy Call looks to hold outstanding claims in the Cesarewitch trial at Newmarket today (3.55) and rates the best bet on the card at 9/1.

Mark Johnston’s charge has shown rapid improvement this season, and bounced back from a below-par effort in the Melrose at York when registering his fifth success of the campaign at Haydock over 1m 6f last time out.

The son of Manduro came from off the pace that day to lead at the furlong marker before staying on strongly to beat Muntasir by a cost length off a mark of 81.

Although now 5lb higher in the weights and racing off a career-high 0f 86, he had been very impressive when slamming Trovare by 5 lengths in a 2m contest at Lingfield back in July and he looks the type who has even more to offer over extreme distances.

The 2m 2f trip this afternoon should be right up his street, and I think that he is still potentially well treated from the foot of the weights.

The other unexposed three-year-old New Youmzain looks the main danger, but Courtesy Call is the more battle hardened of the pair and looks sure to take all the beating in the hands of Silvestre De Sousa on ground that he relishes.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Courtesy Call (9/1 Hills – BOG)
