Tudor City a tasty punt at 14/1

Tudor City looks on a handy mark and primed to run a big race in the Ladbrokes Hurdle at Leopardstown today (2.00) so makes plenty of appeal at 14/1.

This seven-year-old hails from the yard of the shrewd Tony Martin who loves nothing better than to lay one out for a big pot like this and  ran very well in this race 12 montsh ago when a keeping on 7 3/4 lengths fifth of 20 to Off You Go off a mark of 129.

He now now meets that rival on 16lb better terms so that should be more than enough to see him gain hsi revenge

Tudor City also ran a cracker two starts back whne findining Wonder Laish only 1/2 a length too good in a 21-runner affair at Fairyhouse where his pilot Robbie Colgan dropped his whip on the run-in.

But for that it would have been a close run affair between the pair, so given that Tudor City now enjoys a 5lb swing in the weights with Charles Byrnes’ charge – who heads the betting – it makes him a leading player from a handciapping perspective off what looks a handy mark of 133.

Denis O’Regan, who now takes over in the saddle, is also the ideal partner for a hold-up type like Tudor City and this will race will have been on Martin’s radar for some time, so everything looks in place for a big run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: pts each-way Tudor City 2.00L (14/1 bet365, Coral, Unibet, William Hill – BOG)
