The unexposed Kingsmere has shown enough promise over hurdles to suggest that he is overpriced at 12/1 in the 1.35 at Newbury today.
Henry Daly’s charge landed a maiden point in 2010 and out in three really solid efforts over the obstacles before flopping went sent off favourite for his chasing debut when last seen back in March.
He started off with a very eye-catching fourth to Court By Surprise on his hurdling debut at Haydock where he led for much of the journey before weakening two from home to be beaten just over 10 lengths.
That race has thrown up plenty of winners, and he finished just behind Fountains Flypast who has gone on to score twice and is now rated 130.
The six-year-old then went on to finish fourth at Huntingdon where he shaped as if still needing the experience, before putting in a cracking effort on his handicap debut at bangor when beaten just a short-head.
He rallied really strongly at the Welsh track after being two lengths down at the last, and that run suggested that he would have no difficulty getting into the winners’ enclosure this season.
His current mark of 113 certainly doesn’t look beyond him given that he is lightly raced and open to bags more improvement, and the 12/1 on offer about him looks huge.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Kingsmere (12/1 Ladbrokes – BOG, Blue Square)
